A private Mac memory for searchable screen history, meeting notes, and AI-agent context.

What is Earlyn?

Earlyn is a macOS app that creates an encrypted, searchable memory of your screen and meetings. It processes data on your Mac, where it can capture changing screen content, transcribe meetings, translate speech, and answer questions about your day. Search can include screen history, meeting records, and documents from folders you select.

The app is designed for reviewing past work rather than recording continuous screen video. Its Rewind timeline lets you move through stored screen moments, find text, copy it, compare changes, and ask questions about a selected period. Meeting tools add transcripts, speaker separation, summaries, action items, live translation, PDF export, and optional encrypted audio replay.

Earlyn can also provide memory to Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Windsurf, and Gemini CLI through a local MCP server. A seven-day trial includes all features without a card or account; meetings remain free afterward, while Pro retains screen memory for 90 days and adds additional memory and agent features.

What can Earlyn do?

Rewind screen timeline

Stores screen images and text when on-screen content changes, allowing you to scrub through the day, search for words, copy text, compare moments, and ask about a selected period.

On-device meeting transcription

Transcribes meetings on the Mac, labels your microphone separately, distinguishes speakers from computer audio, and creates summaries with decisions and action items.

Live translation and meeting exports

Shows translated meeting lines during the conversation when configured, and supports PDF export containing the summary, transcript, and displayed translations. Audio can be retained for encrypted replay.

Ask and document search

Answers plain-language or voice questions using screen and meeting history, with cited source moments. Search can also include PDFs, Word files, slides, and notes from folders you choose.

Local AI-agent memory

Registers Earlyn as a local MCP server for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Windsurf, and Gemini CLI. Agents can search captured context, use skills, and run on supported triggers such as a completed meeting.

Privacy controls and local storage

Keeps the database and captured media encrypted on the Mac, with exclusions for selected apps, private browser windows, password fields, and detected secrets. Data can be exported, paused, or deleted.

Use Cases

“Recover information from earlier work”

Use the Rewind timeline to locate a document, webpage, or on-screen detail seen earlier, copy its text, or compare how a document changed between two moments.

“Create usable meeting records”

Let Earlyn transcribe a call, identify speakers, translate lines when needed, and produce a summary with decisions and action items for follow-up.

“Review a day across apps”

Ask a question about screen activity, meetings, or selected documents instead of manually reopening each source, then inspect the moments cited in the answer.

“Give coding agents project context”

Connect a supported local AI tool through MCP so it can search relevant screen history and meeting notes while working in Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Windsurf, or Gemini CLI.

“Trigger follow-up actions”

Use agent triggers after events such as a meeting ending, then send a chosen answer or agent output to services such as Slack, Notion, Linear, GitHub, HubSpot, or a compatible webhook.

Frequently Asked Questions

What operating system does Earlyn require?

Earlyn is available for Mac and requires macOS 14 or later. The site specifies Apple Silicon support.

Does Earlyn send captured data to the cloud?

Screen text extraction, search, transcription, summaries, and translation run on the Mac. Data is sent only when you choose an external provider with your own API key or connect an external app or webhook.

Does Earlyn record meetings automatically?

No. When a supported call or browser tab uses the microphone, Earlyn offers to record, but it does not start recording on its own. Recording consent may be required depending on local law and the participants.

How long is screen history retained?

The free plan keeps seven days of searchable history. Pro keeps screen memory for 90 days. Older memories are deleted automatically unless you pin moments for longer retention.

What happens after the seven-day trial?

The trial starts with all features and does not require a card or account. After seven days, meeting transcripts, summaries, live translation, notes, and seven days of history remain free; Pro retains screen memory for 90 days and enables additional memory and agent features.
