Doubao is an AI assistant for everyday questions, writing and creative work. You can ask in text or by voice, request explanations, and create or edit visual content. It is available through web, mobile and desktop versions. The desktop client integrates a work mode for office tasks and computer operations.
Generated answers can be mistaken. Check important facts against other sources and review generated work before using it.
What can Doubao do?
Voice input and spoken responses
Use speech-to-text input or voice conversations, and receive spoken answers with selectable voices.
Image editing and visual generation
Describe an image edit, such as changing a background or style. The app also provides image and video generation.
Desktop work mode
Prepare documents, spreadsheets and presentations, or delegate computer and browser tasks in a virtual desktop. You can watch the operation, pause it or take over.
Conversation memory controls
Let saved preferences inform later answers, review individual memories and delete them. Turning memory off stops its use and updates without deleting existing memories.

Is Doubao free, and what do subscriptions cost?
The China iOS listing has a free Basic option. Standard costs CNY 68 per recurring month or CNY 688 per recurring year, with higher paid tiers offering more AI usage. Apple subscriptions renew automatically; manage cancellation in iTunes subscription settings. These prices apply to that listing.
Does a membership provide unlimited image and video generation?
Memberships provide usage quotas. Active members can buy one-time creation packs for image and video tasks. Packs have a fixed expiry; unused allowances do not roll over or receive refunds, and the packs do not auto-renew. Consumption varies with task complexity, model and resolution.
Can I supervise desktop automation?
Yes. Desktop work mode lets you view its virtual-desktop operations and pause or take over when needed. Review the requested edits and completed outputs.
Does deleting a chat also delete its memories?
No. Manage saved memories separately in Settings > Memory. You can delete one or all memories; switching memory off alone does not erase them. A deleted memory can take time to stop appearing in answers. Memory is extracted from conversation text, not uploaded pictures, files, links or video-call images.
Can I tailor how the assistant responds?
You can select a voice and customize an agent's speaking style, skills and background. Saved memories can also provide context for later replies when memory is enabled.
