ChordCreate
Freemium
A browser-based AI chord progression generator for musicians and songwriters.
What is ChordCreate?
ChordCreate is a free browser-based AI tool that turns plain-language descriptions into chord progressions. Describe the musical direction you want, and it returns a progression with its key, chords, and an explanation of why they work.
The tool provides a workspace for listening to and refining those ideas before exporting them as MIDI. Alongside the generator, ChordCreate offers chord reference tools and interactive music theory resources for exploring harmony.
What can ChordCreate do?
Chord-by-chord editing
Edit individual chords after generation to refine the sequence while retaining the rest of the progression.
Playback and instrument controls
Audition progressions in the browser, change the instrument and tempo, and use loop playback and a metronome to hear ideas in context.
MIDI export
Export the progression as MIDI for further work in a music production workflow.
Chord Finder
Choose a root note to browse chords built on it. Individual chord pages show notes and inversions, with an interactive piano and play and strum controls.
Interactive harmony tools
The Circle of Fifths shows a selected key's scale, relative minor, and seven playable chords. A separate virtual piano lets you play notes, chords, and scales in the browser.
Use Cases
“Develop a song's harmonic starting point”
Begin with a mood and key that suit a song idea or vocal range, then audition and adjust the resulting chords before building the melody.
“Explore genre-specific harmony”
Try prompts for pop, jazz, R&B, or house, adding chord extensions or modulations to explore different harmonic directions for a track.
“Study chord construction and relationships”
Use chord notes, inversions, and the Circle of Fifths to connect written theory with audible examples when learning how chords fit within a key.

What should I include in a prompt?
Include the key, chord types, style or genre, and any relevant mood or tempo. For more specific results, request details such as suspended chords, seventh or ninth chords, particular voicings, or modulations.
