## O que é CodeCombat?

CodeCombat is an educational coding game in which learners write typed code to work through programming challenges. It has individual and classroom paths: home learners play the game, while teachers create classes, enroll students and monitor course progress in a dashboard.

Introductory access has different conditions for each path. Individual play provides a five-level trial before Premium is required; classroom CS1 modules have a separate free introduction and discovery-call process. Premium’s AI hints help with the current code problem without handing over the entire solution.

Write real programming code as part of the game’s learning activities. The classroom introduction is designed for students without prior programming experience.

### AI code hints in Premium

Hints evaluate the learner’s code, identify errors and explain how to address them without supplying the entire solution. Learners still work through the level’s coding challenge.

### Teacher-managed classes

Create a class in the Teacher Dashboard, choose the introductory course and enroll students. Class codes or class URLs let students join without requiring email addresses.

### Language choices with access conditions

Home users can choose Python or JavaScript. C++ requires a subscription; CoffeeScript and Lua are experimental, as is the subscriber-only Java option.

### What can an individual try without a subscription?

The first five levels of the Kithgard Dungeon course are available as a free trial. A Premium subscription is required to progress beyond them.

### How does the classroom introduction work?

In CS1: Introduction to Computer Science, modules 1–2 are free with sign-up. Modules 3–5 unlock after a discovery call with the CodeCombat team. There is no limit to the number of students who can join a class and explore those free modules.

### How many AI hints are included?

Premium provides an allocation of 10 AI hints per day. The allocation is subject to change; hints address the current coding problem without providing its complete solution.

### Are all supported languages equally established?

No. Python and JavaScript are offered for home users, while C++ is subscriber-only. CoffeeScript, Lua and subscriber-only Java are marked experimental and can have bugs or errors.
