getcta is a macOS teleprompter that places a script in a small black panel beneath the MacBook notch, directly below the camera. Its purpose is to keep a speaker’s eyes near the lens while reading during recordings, video calls, and online presentations.
The free prompter provides auto-scroll, manual speed settings, hover-to-peek, resizing, keyboard shortcuts, and display above other windows. Pro adds voice-follow, which highlights and scrolls through the script based on speech, plus AI tools for writing, rewriting, timing, and editing scripts. The product states that speech recognition runs on the Mac and that the prompter is hidden from supported screen-sharing and recording applications.

The Pro mode recognizes speech on the Mac, highlights the word being spoken, and scrolls through the script. It pauses when the speaker stops and can continue through a headset, including AirPods and Bluetooth headsets.
The prompter is designed to remain hidden from screen sharing and recordings in Zoom, Meet, OBS, and QuickTime, so the script is not shown to viewers through those applications.
The editor supports manual scrolling speeds of 120, 150, and 180 words per minute, text sizes, panel width and height controls, and keyboard shortcuts for starting, pausing, moving between sentences, and opening the AI command.
Pro users can generate scripts from topics, notes, or pasted articles; rewrite text for spoken delivery; fit scripts to selected durations; and request changes such as a new hook or call to action. AI changes can be reviewed, accepted, rejected, or undone.
AI can use read-only Notion and Google Drive sources, including Google Docs, as well as .txt, .md, .docx, and .pdf files. A Creator Profile stores details about the user’s channel, audience, speaking style, and words to avoid for later AI requests.
YouTubers and other video creators can read prepared lines from beneath the camera while keeping their gaze closer to the lens than when reading from a separate document window.
People giving online presentations can keep prompts available during a call while the script panel remains hidden from supported screen-sharing workflows.
Founders and presenters can turn notes, a pasted article, or a connected Google Doc or Notion page into a spoken script, then use the prompter while recording a demo or pitch.
The AI generator supports formats including Reels and hooks, YouTube videos, lessons, talks, and other scripts with target lengths from 15 seconds to 3 minutes.
The download page lists macOS 13 Ventura or later on Apple silicon or Intel. Windows and Linux are described as coming soon.
Download the macOS app, launch it, sign in or create an account on the website, and select Connect desktop app. The site says the app does not see the account password. You can then paste or create a script and read it from the notch.
The product states that speech is recognized on the Mac and that audio never leaves it. It also says the prompter is hidden from screen sharing and recordings in Zoom, Meet, OBS, and QuickTime.
Pro AI can generate a script from notes or a source, rewrite text to make it easier to say, fit it to selected durations, and apply requested changes such as making a hook punchier or adding a call to action.
Pro can connect to Notion and Google Drive through read-only access and let users select a page or Google Doc. It also accepts .txt, .md, .docx, and .pdf files; Apple Notes content is supported by copying and pasting on macOS.
