Claude is Anthropic’s conversational AI assistant. Give it a question, draft, document or image, then refine the response through follow-up requests. It can help write and revise text, explain or draft code, analyse document content and create files or Artifacts.
Start with the free plan for everyday chat and file work. Paid plans provide more usage and Research, which investigates a question through multiple searches and returns cited answers. Review important claims, calculations and code before using the result; citations make checking easier, not automatic.

Attach documents such as PDF, DOCX, CSV or text files, or upload supported images. Ask for summaries, comparisons or structured information from the supplied material.
File and Artifact creation
Create and edit files with code execution, or develop Artifacts alongside the conversation. These capabilities are listed on the free plan as well as paid plans.
Cited Research on paid plans
On a paid plan, enable web search and Research for multi-source investigation. Connected internal sources can contribute when authorised, and responses include citations. Team and Enterprise access also depends on the administrator’s model permissions.
Projects and reusable context
Keep reference files in a project for use across conversations. The current free plan includes up to five projects; access and usage remain subject to plan limits.

Where can I use Claude?
Use claude.ai in a browser, Claude Desktop on Mac or Windows, or the iOS/Android apps. Access requires being at least 18 and in a supported location.
What are the usage limits?
Free usage has a session-based limit that resets every five hours. The number of messages varies with demand and other limits may apply. Paid plans provide more usage but are also limited; document length and multi-search Research can consume capacity faster.
What do paid plans cost?
Pro is $20 monthly or $200 a year paid upfront. Max starts at $100 monthly. Team standard seats are $20 per seat/month billed annually or $25 billed monthly, for 2–150 users. Enterprise lists US$20 per seat/month billed annually plus usage at API rates. Applicable tax is extra; usage limits apply.
Can Claude read charts inside every document?
No. PDFs of up to 100 pages support text and visual analysis; accepted PDFs from 101–1000 pages are text-only. Non-PDF documents are text-extracted, so embedded images are not interpreted. Enable code execution and file creation before uploading XLSX.
Do I need Claude Code for coding help in chat?
No. Claude chat supports coding questions and code drafting. Claude Code is a separate coding product included in some plans; its inclusion does not mean all chat or file capabilities run as terminal-agent workflows.
