Matrix is a macOS workspace for assigning objectives to AI Leads and Workers, retaining task context and reviewing tool-based results.

Cos'è Matrix?

Matrix is a macOS AI agent workspace that organizes work by objectives and departments. You set a goal and constraints; a department Lead plans the work, dispatches focused Workers and brings back results for review. Leads retain decisions and context across sessions, while Workers receive narrower task briefs.

The workflow connects planning, tool use, evidence and the next owner decision. A Worker can search, inspect files, use a browser, write code or draft documents through the skills allowed for its task. Get the desktop app from Matrix’s official macOS download, open a workspace around your intended outcome and ask the relevant Lead to propose a plan.

Cosa può fare Matrix?

Persistent department Leads

Organize work into domains such as research, product and operations. Each Lead keeps a charter, objectives and memory, so a growing project does not depend on one expanding conversation.

Focused Workers and task skills

Dispatch a Worker with a narrow brief and allowed skills for search, files, browser work, code or documents. It returns evidence to the Lead when the assignment finishes.

Memory and artifact handoffs

Retain decisions, constraints, previous attempts and unresolved blockers. Leads can hand another department an artifact, a context summary and a specific request.

Reviewable completion

Use files, tests and transcript evidence to assess the work. The owner can accept a result, redirect it or request a narrower follow-up; sensitive or destructive actions should remain behind explicit approval.

Casi d'uso

“Prepare a product launch”

Ask the Product Lead to frame a plan, send competitor research to a Worker and coordinate design materials. Review the transcript and resulting files before making launch decisions.

“Hand a prototype to another department”

Pass code or release notes from Engineering to Marketing with the artifact and a defined request, preserving each department's own context.

“Return to an ongoing project”

Ask for a status summary and reuse prior decisions, artifacts and blockers instead of reconstructing the project's history in a new chat.

Domande frequenti

How do I get started?

Download the macOS app from Matrix’s official download. Open a workspace around the outcome you want, give the relevant Lead a measurable goal and constraints, then review its plan before dispatching work.

How do Leads and Workers differ?

A Lead owns a department and retains its context across sessions. A Worker handles a scoped task with the skills and memory it needs, then returns evidence. The owner keeps strategic direction, decisions and approvals.

What should I review after a task?

Inspect the transcript, tool results and concrete outputs such as files or tests. Accept the result, redirect the work or ask for a narrower follow-up. The evidence trail is the basis for review.

How are sensitive actions handled?

Set the task’s constraints and permitted skills, require explicit approval for sensitive or destructive actions, and review the transcript to inspect which tool ran and what it returned.
